The Black Belt Test

Things to Know

  Yuen Moo Sun

  1. Only one mistake is allowed.
  2. Two mistakes will result in automatic failure.

  Filming

  1. All Black Belt Tests are filmed and sent to Seoul, South Korea to the Kukkiwon Headquarters for review.
  2. This review period can take up to 4 months.
  3. During the review, if extra mistakes are found, this will result in automatic failure. 

  Board Breaks

  1. Students are expected to break 3 boards.
  2. Each board break can be attempted up to 3 times for a total of 9 tries.
  3. You are allowed to use any Hand Technique (Knife Hand Strike, Palm Block).
  4. You are allowed to use any Spin Kick (Spin Roundhouse, Spin Hook Kick).
  5. You are allowed to use any Jump Kick (Jump Front, Jump Side, Jump Back Kick).

  Sparring

  1. World Tae Kwon Do Federation Rules Apply.
  2. Bring ALL sparring gear.

  Second Degree Black Belt

  1. After earning the 1st Degree Black Belt, there will be 3 more tests before achieving the 2nd Degree Black Belt.
  2. These are the same as the Black Belt Test and will be held twice a year as all Black Belt Tests are held. 

  Private Lessons

  • Private Classes are held Saturdays:
    1. 12PM - 1PM
    2. 1PM - 2PM
    3. 2PM - 3PM
